Last checked: 5 October 2026 · next Statbel release end of October 2026

Belgian inflation broadly tracks the euro-area average, but reacts faster to energy and food prices, partly because wages are automatically indexed.

Why Belgium reacts faster

The Belgian basket weighs energy and food relatively heavily, and the health index feeds through the central index straight into wages, pensions and benefits. In 2024 Belgian HICP ran 2–3 points above the euro area for months; since 2026 energy has pushed inflation up again.
